Direct-to-OTT releases of Kannada cinema is still a rarity, but most films with theatrical outings have been finding streaming partners. If a general entertainment channel also has an OTT platform, most often the satellite and digital rights are sold together, but in some cases, filmmakers hold out to negotiate better deals for their products on other platforms. For instance, James was sold to Star Suvarna for TV, but the OTT rights went to SonyLiv.
