Following the leaked renders of the MG Astor and the ZS EV facelifts, the automaker has officially unveiled the refreshed ZS EV under the VS HEV moniker in Thailand. However, the company did not reveal powertrain or wider availability-related details. First on MG Motor’s list of priorities for the Indian market is the Air EV, which is rumoured to be the company’s cheapest EV, potentially taking on the Tata Tiago EV.
In terms of the changes included with the new MG VS HEV, there are some new alloy wheels, while some minor tweaks have been made to the front grille as well. However, the back of the refreshed automobile looks fairly identical to the existing iterations of the Astor and ZS EV, as Autocar India rightly notes.

One key design change that’s worth mentioning here is the enhanced intakes on the sides in addition to a diamond pattern etched on the front grille. This hybrid model is a good indicator of what the upcoming ZS and Astor facelifts would look like, though the company is yet to provide specifics on the powertrain of the two models.
MG Motor doesn’t offer a hybrid automobile in India, and the VS has been made specifically with Thai markets in mind. When the Astor/ZS EV facelifts eventually make their way to India, they would likely retail the same engine/motor combination as their predecessors.
So customers can expect the same electric motor capable of delivering 176hp and 280Nm of power from the ZS EV, in addition to 450+ kilometres of range courtesy of the 50.3kWh battery pack. Meanwhile, the petrol-only MG Astor could keep the 1.3L turbo and 1.5L four-cylinder engine options.
It is currently speculated that the Astor and ZS EV facelifts could reach India during the latter stages of next year.
