Carmelo Anthony’s retirement video is a legendary ode to his son

Carmelo Anthony says goodbye to the NBA. On Monday, the 10-time NBA All-Star, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and future Hall of Fame key capped it all off by retiring – thanks to one of the best retirement videos you’ll ever see.

It’s a grand ode to the game that changed his life, a career filled with incredible memories, and a look into the future — as Melo transitions from basketball professional to basketball dad. Anthony completely peacefully left the game, without even a championship ring to show for it.

Anthony’s path through the NBA may have strayed wildly from LeBron James, with whom he was compared the most early in his career – but Melo is an absolute legend in his own right. From turning the Nuggets from a basement joke into a can’t-miss team of the early 2000s, to becoming That a force that sold out Madison Square Garden nightly for the Knicks, he never had the right team built around him, but remains one of the most dynamic pure scorers in the league with one of the best middleweight games the NBA has ever seen.

Now Anthony’s focus is on his 16-year-old son, Kiyan Anthony. Set to join the class of 2025, Kiyan is the No. 1 ranked prospect. 62 in a state that has secured offers from Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee – and of course, his father’s alma mater, Syracuse.

Thank you Melo for all the memories, highlights and unforgettable performances. You are truly the one and only.
