Talented actor Naga Shaurya is back once again with a rom-com titled Krishna Vrindha Vihari directed by Anish R Krishna. It stars Bollywood’s singer cum actress Shirley Setia as the female lead. The film got a very good buzz due to its first of its kind of promotions. The film hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Krishna Chari (Naga Shaurya) is from a restricted and strict Brahmin family who gets a software job in Hyderabad. The moment he sees Vrinda (Shirley Setia) in his office, he falls for her. But she is quite stubborn and does not accept his love due to an issue. Krishna finally wins her love but he is quite confused as to how to convince his orthodox family. After a while, he somehow manages to persuade them by playing a trick and marries Vrinda. This makes him land in big trouble. What is this trouble? How did Krishna manage it? That forms the story.
Plus Points:
Naga Shaurya played the character of Krishna Chari with utmost perfection. Be it his comic timing, acting in emotional scenes and romance, he has given a high-quality performance. The energy shown by him is too good.
Shirley Setia makes a very good debut in Telugu and performs with ease. Her love track with Shaurya is a treat to watch. The actress herself dubbed for her role and did it quite well.
Both the halves are filled with some non-stop entertainment in this film. Heavy doses of comedy and one-liners work big time and keeps us glued to the screens and does not bore us. Radhika Sarathkumar as the mother of Naga Shaurya is perfect in her given role.
Minus Points:
While the movie has plenty of funny sequences this in one way becomes a disadvantage as well. The comic part has sidelined the emotional angle present in the second half. There are emotional scenes but the way they were placed in between the funny scenes isn’t good.
We are thrown with continuous laughable scenes and hence don’t connect to the actual emotional part. Had the emotional angle been taken care of, it would have been a lot better.
The film is engaging but the manner in which it ends is not convincing. There are a few over-the-top scenes in this second hour. The story of the film isn’t novel and at times becomes formulaic too.
Technical Aspects:
A couple of songs are good and so is the background score. Mahati Swara Sagar does a good job with the music department. The editing is sharp and the film is fast-paced. The camera work by Sai Sriram is first-rate. The production values are top notch and the makers have spent heavily to give the film a rich feel.
Coming to director Anish R Krishna, he did a decent job with the film. His narration is good in the first hour but in the second hour, he loses the grip. He has managed to extract fine performances from artists.
Verdict:
Overall Krishna Vrindha Vihari has fun filled moments at regular intervals. The key performances, comedy track between Naga Shaurya, Satya, Rahul Ramakrishna, and Brahmaji, are the biggest assets of the film. On the flip side, a low emotional angle and a few over-the-top scenes are its drawbacks making this film a one time watch this weekend.
