‘Community’ Movie on Peacock: Cast, Release Date, Spoilers – TVLine

By Ryan Schwartz /
Community is about to fulfill its #SixSeasonsAndAMovie prophecy.
Peacock on Friday announced that it has greenlit Community the Movie, seven years after the cult classic’s 2015 series finale. (For those keeping score at home, it’s Community: 1, The Cape: 0.)
The feature-length followup will reunite stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong. Original cast members Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown and Chevy Chase are not attached. (In response to the news, Brown tweeted: “It’s happening! Congrats, #Community fans! You guys did this!”)
Series creator Dan Harmon is writing the film with former series scribe Andrew Guest (whose credits include fan-favorite episodes “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” and “A Fistful of Paintballs”). They’ll executive-produce alongside McHale, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster. The movie is slated to be released in 2023.
“‘Six seasons and a movie’ started out as a cheeky line from Community‘s early seasons and quickly ignited a passionate fan movement for this iconic, hilarious and cool (cool, cool) NBC comedy,” NBC Universal Television’s Chairman of Entertainment Susan Rovner said in a statement. “We’re incredibly grateful that 15 years later, we are able to deliver fans this promised movie and can’t wait to get to work with Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest, Joel McHale, Sony and our partners at UTV to continue this epic comedy for Peacock audiences.”
Plot details are being kept under wraps for now. The press release only states that Community the Movie derives “from the TV series that predicted its own movie,” making it “the least predictable movie of a TV series that referenced a lot of movies and TV.”
The announcement also confirms that the original run of Community will be available to stream on Peacock at an as-yet-unspecified date, as part of a non-exclusive streaming deal. All six seasons are currently available on Hulu, Netflix and Prime Video.
