Uunchai’s OTT rights bagged by Zee5; OTT release date to be announced soon – Pricebaba Daily

One of India’s popular production houses, Rajshri Productions, has been known for presenting classic family drama films in Bollywood. Over the years, Rajshri Productions has given blockbusters like Nadiya Ke Paar, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Vivaah, and many more. The production house recently completed 75 years in Bollywood and marking the occasion, Rajshri Productions released its 60th film, Uunchai, which released across the world and has received positive response.

Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, Uunchai is jointly produced by Rajshri Productions, Boundless Media and Mahaveer Jain Films. The film was announced in October 2021 and immediately garnered attention as fans have been eagerly waiting for a classic from the reputed production house.
Uunchai boasts of a stellar cast which includes reputed names like Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika, Parineeti Chopra and others. The posters of each of the cast members was revealed by their near and dear ones, which was appreciated by the audience.
The story of the film is by Sunil Gandhi and the film has been written by Abhishek Dixit. Manoj Khatoi has done th cinematography of the film while the editing is done by Shweta Matthew. Ace composer Amit Trivedi has given the songs of the film and George Joseph has given the score. The lyrics have been penned by the eminent Irshad Kamil.
Uunchai was released across limited screens globally. The film released in theatres on November 11, 2022. Reports state that the digital rights of the film have also been acquired by an OTT giant.
Fans can soon watch Uunchai on Zee5. Announcement regarding the OTT release dates are awaited.

Uunchai marks director Sooraj Barjatya’s comeback after the 2015-film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Just like all other Rajshri Productions’ film, Uunchai is also about family, friends and cherishing the relationships, however, this film is remarkably different from others as it sheds light on the subject of friendship between senior citizens.
A group of four friends love their bond and have always been special to each other, but one incident brings them back together. One friend has the wish of making it to the Everest Base Camp summit and to fulfill his last wish, his three best friends, despite their age, make it a point to do this for him. They seek help of a trek expert and mentor who guides them in preparations and the journey. Little did they know that a simple trek will take them on an emotional and spiritual journey which brings them closer, helps them battle limitations and also helps discover the meaning of freedom.

The film was announced in September 2021 by Rajshri films and the eminent cast of veterans was roped in to play best friends. Ace actress Sarika also makes a comeback to cinema after 2016-film Baar Baar Dekho and Nafisa Ali was cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The filming began in October 21, 2022, and was shot at several landmark locations in Nepal’s Lukla and Kathmandu and Indian locations like Kargil, Delhi, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh.
Uunchai received positive response from critics and the audience. Despite the release in limited screens, fans have rushed to the theatres to watch this film. Reviewers have stated that the film is simple yet emotional and an entertaining watch for families. Performances by popular names of the fraternity have also struck the chord with the audience. Aspects of the direction and story have also resonated with the audience as users have take to social media to mention that emotions showcased are relatable and heart-warming. Despite the pitfalls, the efforts to connect with the audience has been lauded as it makes one nostalgic about their friendships and relationships.
