The Witcher: Blood Origin is not coming to Netflix in October 2022 – Netflix Life

The Witcher: Blood Origin. Netflix.
While we wait for The Witcher season 3, we were hoping to see The Witcher: Blood Origin. The prequel series isn’t arriving this month. There is some good news, though.
The wait continues for anything Witcher related. The Witcher: Blood Origin is coming sometime in 2022, but it’s not going to be this month. With rumors of reshoots needed to help develop certain character stories, that’s not too surprising.
However, there is some good news. We now know when in 2022 the prequel series is going to arrive. We also have a few details on what to expect when it does drop on Netflix.
During the TUDUM event at the end of September, Netflix gave us the release date for The Witcher prequel series. We have to wait a couple more months.
The Witcher: Blood Origin will premiere on Christmas Day. Yes, Dec. 25 is the date to put in your diary. This is an odd decision compared to what Netflix has done in the past with Christmas releases, but overall it does make sense. Families tend to gather around the TV during big holidays, and Netflix is likely hoping that families will gather to watch this series on the day.
Comic Book has confirmed the length of the season, too. There were rumors that it was being shortened from six to four episodes as reshoots and changes to the story happened. That is definitely the case, and we’re not too sure what to make of that. Based on what The Witcher is like for storytelling, I can’t see how four episodes is going to be enough to do this story justice. I’m trying to keep an open mind, though.
There are Easter eggs in the prequel for the OG series. There are also some things answers in the prequel that came up in the OG series. Could this change a few things in The Witcher moving forward? Possibly, but at least The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is an EP on the prequel series so had direct involvement to help with the main show.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is on Netflix on Dec. 25.
