While the movie was not a commercial success, it moved the audience for being a modern adaptation of Love Story and music that touched the chords of the heart. Sonia Rathee is known for playing the lead opposite Sidharth Shukla in Broken but Beautiful Season 3. The two make a dynamic couple in Tara Vs Bilal. Produced by John Abraham and Bhushan Kumar under JA Productions’ and TSeries banner, the film’s cinematography has been done by Amarjeet Singh, editing is done by Dipika Kalra, and the casting by Mukesh Chhabra. Music for the film has been given by Gaurav Godkhindi and Japjisingh Valecha.

Set against the backdrop of London, Tara vs Bilal is presented as a comedy film with a social message. Two people – Tara and Bilal – agree to maintain the relationship by faking the marriage but eventually fall in love. However, religion becomes a barrier as they start facing challenges from society. How they battle these issues and convince each other to become one forms the crux of the film.
The makers, at the trailer launch, informed that Tara Vs Bilal was a story written to make the audience experience all the emotions in a pure manner, thereby teaching the audience importance of family, love and more. A message to overcome apprehensions and negativity was also expressed through the film.

Right after receiving a positive response to the trailer, actor Harshvardhan Rane shared details about his role and said, “After my debut film, people on social media have been requesting filmmakers to cast me in a romantic film again.” Sonia Rathee, further added, “Tara is a character very close to my heart. It was a blast working with Harshvardhan and the entire team. We’ve had so many fun moments on the same, and it felt like an adventure.”
The trailer of the film impressed the audience and as it promised a lot of drama, twists packed with entertainment. However, critics mentioned that the writing of the film was flawed enough to entertain as the makers did not explore much in the story which could have been presented in a refreshing manner. Moreover, Harshvardhan Rane, considered to be one of the underrated actors, has not been given a convincing role. The film falls flat at several levels failing to make a mark and leave the audience hooked to the screens.
