Michael Block won the golf world last weekend for his outstanding performance, attitude and hole-in-one at Oak Hill.
This week, he did so at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, earning a sponsorship exemption thanks to his PGA Championship play. On the final day that he hole-in-one, Block was paired with Rory McIlroy, which created quite the emotional response.
But before hitting the opening tee shot at Colonial, Block made a bold comment on the RipperMagoo podcast, hosted by Bob Menery.
“He’s a lot longer than me,” Block said when asked about playing with McIlroy. “What I would have shot from the range Rory would have been stupid. I think I will become one of the best players in the world.”

“Hands down. If I had that stupid duration, all day,” added Block. “My iron play, wedge play, around the gridiron, and my nipples are world class.”
The 2023 PGA Championship marked the first time Block made the cut in a major, his 8th appearance.
Statistically, the numbers don’t jump off the page at Oak Hill. Block ranked tied for 15th overall, 56th shot around the green, and tied for 39th on green in regulation, hitting the putting surface 61.11% of the time.
Of course, he had a phenomenal flip on the 72nd to save par and finish 15th, which earned him a trip to Louisville next year for the 2024 PGA Championship.
Despite this, people have taken to Block’s recent comments not too kindly:
Last week’s Michael Block saga was great, but guys maybe dipped the chips in too much with some of these comments. I saw him make up about Rory

“If I had Rory’s distance” is the energy akin to 4 handicapped guys thinking they would dominate in the LPGA.

Following these comments, we’ll see if the Block party continues into this weekend. Some have already put them on the bed.
However, confident club pro Arroyo Trabuco still has a tournament to play in this week.
