“Not possible at the top… antennas are already installed”
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi In-young = Reuters reported on the 22nd (local time) that the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Paris Olympics is promoting a plan to light the torch at the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of Paris.
Reuters, citing a source with direct knowledge of the matter, said that the Paris Olympics organizers are working to install the torch on the Eiffel Tower.
“Relevant reviews have been underway for the past two years,” said the source.
However, it is not clear whether the torch will remain at the Eiffel Tower throughout the Olympic Games, which runs from July 26 to August 11 next year.
The source added that the torch will not be placed atop the Eiffel Tower due to technical reasons.This is because communication equipment such as various antennas are already installed at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
A spokesperson for the Paris Organizing Committee told Reuters that the location of the Olympic torch for the opening ceremony has not yet been confirmed.
However, Reuters added that the organizers did not deny the installation of the torch on the Eiffel Tower.
