Originally, Nanjing hosted the tournament in March 2020.
However, the event was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even in 2021, the spread of Corona 19 was serious, and in the end, the World Athletics Federation and the Chinese Athletics Federation postponed the competition for the second time.
The 2022 World Indoor Athletics Championships in Belgrade, Serbia were scheduled, so the Nanjing Games were scheduled to open in March 2023.

However, even in March of this year, when many countries held sporting events normally through the ‘With Corona’ policy, Nanjing gave up hosting the competition, and the World Athletics Federation decided to hold the Nanjing competition in March 2025, when the schedule was empty.
The World Indoor Athletics Championships will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, England on March 1-3, 2024, and Torun, Poland, on March 20-22, 2026.
The World Indoor Athletics Championships are held every two years, but in the aftermath of Corona 19, they will be held for three consecutive years in 2024, 2025, and 2026.
On this day, the World Athletics Federation confirmed the venue of the 2024 World Race Track Team Championships as Turkiye Antalya, and set the schedule for April 20-21.
