Two big Bollywood releases are set to clash for Diwali
Movie-goers and cinema halls are gearing up for some big releases around Diwali. From two big Bollywood releases to a handful of much-awaited releases in the south, here is a quick look at the films set to arrive on the big screen.
Monster
Release date: October 21
The Malayalam film reunites Mohanlal with director Vysakh after the blockbuster hit Pulimurugan. The film also features Lakshmi Manchu, Lena, Honey Rose, Sudev Nair, Siddique and KB Ganesh Kumar in key roles. Touted to be a crime thriller, Mohanlal essays a character named Lucky Singh. Monster has reportedly been banned in the Gulf region over LGBT content.
Ram Setu
Release date: October 25
The Akshay Kumar-starrer revolves around an archaeologist’s race against time to prove the existence of the Ram Setu that features in the epic Ramayana. Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the action film also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharuccha and veteran actor Nassar in pivotal roles.
Thank God:
Release date: October 25
This fantasy comedy starring Ajay Devgn clashes with Ram Setu at the box office for Diwali. Helmed by director Indra Kumar, Thank God also features Siddharth Malhotra, Rakil Preet Singh.
Padavettu
Release date: October 21
The Malayalam action thriller, directed by debutante Liju Krishna, features Nivin Pauly, Manju Warrier, Aditi Balan and Shammi Thilakan among others. The film revolves around the struggles of the oppressed section of society, and the fight to claim their rights.
Prince
Release date: October 21
This bilingual romcom, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, revolves around a man who falls in love with a British woman. Directed by Anudeep Kv, Prince is Sivakarthikeyan’s Telugu debut. The film will release in theatres in both Tamil and Telugu. Ukrainian model-actress Maria Ryaboshapka plays the female lead in the film.
Sardar
Release date: October 21
The Tamil spy action thriller film features actor Karthi in a dual role. Written and directed by P.S. Mithran, the film also stars Raashi Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, Chunky Pandey and Laila in key roles.
