Disney+ added a variety of new films this week in celebration of Disney+ Day. Paramount+ added another installment of an award-winning series.
Disney+ dropped a multitude of titles on Thursday in celebration of Disney+ Day. These additions include some brand-new movies and shows like Pinocchio and Cars on the Road. Paramount+ added a long list of films and series to its platform on the first of the month, and this Thursday serves as the premiere for Season 6 of the successful legal drama The Good Fight.
The musical fantasy film Pinocchio premieres on Disney+ this week, offering audiences a live-action performance of the beloved animated classic. Tom Hanks stars as Gepetto, the Italian woodcarver who creates Pinocchio (voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) and raises him as if he were his real son. Robert Zemeckis serves as the film's director and has worked with Hanks on another iconic children's film — The Polar Express. Viewers can tune in to watch the live-action film adaptation of the classic story.

Thor: Love and Thunder was released on July 8, 2022, and joins the Disney+ streaming catalog exactly two months later. The film's initial release was difficult, as many critics focused on the negative aspects of the film, claiming it was inferior to Thor: Ragnarok. Since its release, the film has retained generally positive reviews and praise, maintaining its initial goal to deliver a light-hearted and entertaining superhero film. For those who missed the theatrical release, they can enjoy the film now from their home theater.
Disney+ dropped an entire season of Cars on the Road this week. The premise is set months after Cars 3 and follows Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater as they travel across the United States for a family wedding. Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy reprise their roles from the original films, and the protagonists interact with a variety of new characters they meet along the way.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi's Return gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the recent Disney+ series. The documentary focuses on the connection between Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen since their classic roles in the Star Wars prequel films. Audiences will get an exclusive look at how the series was created and how the storyline bridges from one to the next, including the introduction of new characters that served to connect the series to the original films.
Brie Larson stars in a short film titled Remembering that follows the imagination of a writer who forgets an important idea when her phone rings and pulls her out of her zone. The film features a personified golden light that the writer must track down to retrieve the idea that almost floated away. Remembering serves as an inspirational piece for artists and tells a fantastical story of where their ideas might come from.

Brie Larson is at it again as a creator for the docu-series Growing Up, which features various young adults and their experiences throughout childhood and adolescence. The series focuses primarily on the complex messages many young people receive daily and how that shapes them into the adults they become. Many people enter adulthood with emotional wounds, anxiety and various insecurities, and this series explores where some of those issues originated in childhood.
The spin-off legal drama series The Good Fight has received favorable reception over the years. Each season has maintained above a 90 percent approval on Rotten Tomatoes, commenting on its approach to current events and social commentary. The series features a young lawyer and her mentor who are forced out of their law firm. The duo joins another firm that focuses on police brutality cases in Illinois. This will be the second year that The Good Fight has premiered on Paramount+ after shifting from CBS in 2021.
