Many new Netflix shows are slated to come out throughout September, and we’re excited about every single release. But we couldn’t help but notice that The Watcher is a Netflix title that wasn’t given a release date in September. In fact, the show doesn’t have an official release date at all. Although this is saddening news, we have a new update regarding the limited series that will lift your spirits.
The Watcher is based on a true story about a married couple who after moving into their dream home, finds themselves constantly harassed by a mysterious stalker named The Watcher. Academy-nominated actress Naomi Watts and Emmy Award-winning actor Bobby Cannavale star in the leading roles. Joining Watts and Cannavale in the cast are Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow, Noma Dumezweni, Margo Martindale, and many others.
The last update we had regarding the show was when production wrapped. On March 2, Naomi Watts announced that filming was officially finished through an Instagram post. In the caption, Watts also revealed that the show will arrive on Netflix “later this year.” It was pretty much radio silence after this update.
Now, we finally have a new update on The Watcher. On Sept. 9, Netflix released a funny teaser and a release window for the limited series.
The teaser features Jennifer Coolidge as real estate agent Karen Calhoun. She gives a tour of the infamous house on which the show is centered. Check it out below!
A fake Zillow page was also made for the house. Ryan Murphy and Co. definitely put a lot of money into marketing this series.
According to the Netflix press release, the limited series is coming to the streamer this fall. Fall is from Sept. 23 to Dec. 21. However, we can throw out a September release since the complete list of Netflix shows coming this month has already been revealed, and The Watcher wasn’t included.
This means we’re looking at a release somewhere between October and December. Naturally, we would want to see the show sooner rather than later. There’s a possibility Netflix could give the show an October release, and if that is to be the case, the streamer will likely announce the release date this month. On the other hand, Netflix’s TUDUM event is on Sept. 24, so maybe the streamer is waiting to announce the release date at the event. We’ll just have to wait and see.
