Even as the calendar closes on the summer months, the warm weather isn’t the only thing that’s sticking around for a while. The unofficial Emmy hype cycle turns over this month, leaving a fresh wave of new shows to try to fill the void left behind by awards-related chatter.
These range from gargantuan-budget spectacles to intimate character dramas and every single shade in between. September’s got book adaptations aplenty, genre-blurring projects bridging scripted and unscripted. Network slates are getting an infusion of new life (even if some of the titles are familiar) and some streaming services are getting even more self-referential than usual.
It’s all to say that TV never truly lets up. As more than one kind of season gives way to another, there are plenty of new options for your attention across all the usual TV venues, including broadcast, cable, and streaming (and various combinations thereof).
As usual, this is a roundup of new shows premiering this month. For a more expansive idea of what to expect between now and well into pumpkin spice season, our Fall Preview is here. (And if you happened to miss any of our past roundups, you can peruse the premieres of January, February, March, April, May June, July, August or even that bygone era of 2021.)
