Meenakshi Shirodkar’s debut film

Meenakshi Shirodkar was born in Mumbai and trained as a classical singer. Her early career included roles in radio dramas. In 1935, she married Dr. Shirodkar and continued working in the theatre. Shirodkar, who acted in Marathi films from the 1930s to the 1970s, was one of the first women to wear a swimsuit on the screen. The film was popular because of Meenakshi Shirodkar’s seductive song sequence in a bathing suit.
