By Janani K: Okkadu is one of the iconic films of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu. The film was so successful that it was remade in multiple languages and ended up becoming a hit film everywhere. On December 19, producer MS Raju revealed that Okkadu will be re-released in the theatres in January. As the film turns 20 on January 15, the makers decided to screen the film for fans to celebrate the special occasion. According to producer MS Raju, Okkadu will re-release in the theatres on January 7.
Mahesh Babu is currently on a break after the demise of his father, Superstar Krishna. He is expected to resume work on Trivikram Srinivas's film soon.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu's fans have a special reason to celebrate. The actor's film, Okkadu, is all set for a grand release in January. Producer MS Raju took to Twitter and wrote, "Let's Rock on Jan 7th..The sensational #Okkadu …Golden Era repeats @urstrulyMahesh @Dayaarjun (sic)."

Directed by Gunasekhar, Okkadu is a romantic action film featuring Mahesh Babu, Bhumika Chawla and Prakash Raj in lead roles. The film became the highest-grossing flick in 2003. Okkadu also won eight Nandi Awards in multiple categories. It is safe to say that the film catapulted Mahesh Babu to fame.

Okkadu was later remade in Tamil as Ghilli with Thalapathy Vijay, Trisha and Prakash Raj. It was also remade in Kannada as Ajay, Bengali as Jor, Hindi as Tevar, Sinhala as Kabaddi and Odia as Mate Aanidela Lakhe Phaguna.
