Chris Pine is ready to return to ” Star Trek “. After Paramount and producer JJ Abrams announced the return of Kelvin Timeline with the original cast in February, this is sure to come as a surprise to fans.
According to the Comic Book , the actors and their representatives were apparently unaware that they would be returning to USS Enterprise for the film. Besides Pine, the other old stars in question are Zachary Quinto , Zoe Saldana , Karl Urban , John Cho , and Simon Pegg .
In a new interview with Variety , Pine revealed his reaction to Abrams announcing “Star Trek 4” with the original cast. He admits that it was even shocking news for him. But clearly, the stars are very excited to be back.
“I think everyone was like, ‘Did you hear about this?’ (Laughter). We’re usually the last to find out, but I know we’re all excited,” Pine said. “Every time they want to send us a script, we’re ready for it. We haven’t seen the script yet. I don’t know anything about it.”
Although the script is in progress, Pine is reportedly the first to enter into early negotiations for ” Star Trek 4 “. Pine seems really looking forward to playing in the film. “I don’t trust anyone, but I’m happy. I love the story. I love Star Trek. I love my people,” he explained.
Abrams rebooted ” Star Trek ” in 2009 and recast his Enterprise crew in ” Star Trek Into Darkness ” in 2013. The third film directed by ” Fast and Furious ” filmmaker Justin Lin, ” Star Trek Beyond “, followed in 2016.
The new film is expected to reunite Captain Kirk (Pine), Spock (Quinto), Uhura (Saldana), Scotty (Pegg), Sulu (Cho), and McCoy (Urban). Although it still doesn’t have a title, the film is expected to be released on December 22, 2023.
