On July 28, 2022, Pledis Entertainment announced that Jang Gyuri would be leaving fromis_9 after her contract ended. In the future, fromis_9 will promote as a group of eight.
The next day on July 29, Jang Gyuri posted a handwritten letter on the Weverse fan community. He asked fans not to worry.
“Hello, this is Gyuri fromis_9. I’m afraid our Flover (fan) is very surprised by this sudden news. I want to finish well until the end, so I apologize for not being able to tell you in advance,” wrote Jang Gyuri.
“It feels like when I shared these words far away, but now that I’m here, I remember the time we were together and I feel heartbroken,” he continued.
Jang Gyuri expressed how she felt for fans with deep words.
“The unchanging love and support that Flover has sent me over the years has been a comforting warmth when I feel overwhelmed by confusion and guilt,” she said.
“When I tried to back down for fear of facing a new challenge, it became the courage I needed to take one step forward,” Gyuri continued.
The idol then thanked the fans who this greeting had supported him.
“To Flovers who thanked me and fromis_9 for being my hope and strength to live, I just want to say thank you for being my support and stepping stone. Thanks to you, I can continue to try new things and grow,” he said.
“Even though I was never good at expressing myself, I promise to remember every Flover who still believes in me and hugs me with greater love. As it has been until now, no matter where I am and what image I have, I will do my best not to embarrassed. Please watch over me,” concluded another.
Lastly, Jang Gyuri asked fans to continue to give their support to fromis_9. The idol also did not forget to thank the fans.
