Billboard Touched On The BI Drug Scandal That Made The Idol Open Up For The First Time Even Though It Wasn’t Easy To Talk About It. BI Admitted That He Was Very Sorry.
BI , a former iKON member , recently had an interview with Billboard. Here, the owner of the name Kim Hanbin first opened up about his drug scandal.
The past few years have not been easy for BI In a recent interview with Billboard, the idol opened up about one of the toughest periods of his life.
In the interview, Billboard discussed the circumstances that led to BI becoming a soloist and leaving iKON in 2019. The article touched on the BI drug scandal that caught the media’s attention.
Although it’s not easy to talk about it, BI explained that debuting as an idol always creates an incomparable pressure that few people can understand. In particular, when he debuted, he was still a teenager and had very high expectations of him.
BI later admitted that she had people to talk to about her feelings, but her personality wasn’t something she took lightly. BI admits that he is very sorry about his drug scandal.
“Maybe you can say it feels like surviving, having to win, struggling. When I was weak, I thought maybe I could lighten the burden,” said the 1996-born idol.
“Even now, I regret it over and over again. I shouldn’t have done it, but I felt like I was in a corner, and I made the wrong decision. I was so young and stupid.”
Even before his drug scandal became public, BI explained that he lived in fear of people knowing it, and that’s why he became so obsessed with music.
For him, his music is a way to reconnect with himself and what it means to be a good person, especially since he wants to show that to his fans.
When the scandal broke, BI explained that the worst thing was knowing he was disappointing the people around him, including his family, friends, and fans. However, his family and fans continue to show their support in every way.
“My mind went blank. Then I started thinking about the people I’ve let down and hurt, my family, my friends, my fans, and hating myself. My family doesn’t talk to me much, they just hug me and we cry together. It comforts me but also hurts more ,” he said.
Despite trying to stay strong, even BI admits that there are moments that he is not proud of so far. BI explained that the scale of the story meant he had a “victim mentality” but had attempted to change that, admitting that the only person to blame was himself.
“I try to change people’s perception of me, not only by talking, but by my actions. One by one, I try to persuade everyone I meet. I can’t say it will definitely happen now, but I will make sure it happens,” he said.
However, it was the fans who really helped him out of his slump. BI explained that he attended an event where he saw fans sending letters to him and that’s when he decided to continue pursuing his dream.
After receiving a four-year suspended sentence, BI continues to compose music and send love to his fans and those closest to him who have been there all along.
