Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s Trial Movie Looks As Bad As You’d Expect And People Are Already Hating It

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have starred in the most famous and mediatic trial of the year and, just four months after the verdict, the two actors face each other again in court with the film Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial . The film, which will premiere in Tubi on September 30 , has published its first preview and, if you have followed the legal battle between the protagonist of Pirates of the Caribbean and the actress of Aquaman , you will recognize some of the things that appear in the video.

Unsurprisingly, the low-budget movie looks as bad as you’d expect, and people are already hating it . “The Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial movie drops its first trailer and it’s not good. For Christ’s sake give it a break,” unclefcal writes on Twitter. “Johnny Depp is jealous of James Franco in the first trailer for the Amber Heard libel trial movie. You have to be kidding me!” shares Zakkthmaniac.

“I love how Hollywood exploits people’s traumas like they literally don’t matter. Besides, why do we need a movie about Johnny Depp’s trial of Amber Heard? It legitimately doesn’t make any sense. Get over it already,” writes fvcknpsycho. “I thought this was a joke. Don’t fuck with me, they really are making a movie about the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard,” says IlManiall.

Mark Hapka and Megan Davis are in charge of playing Depp and Heard, respectively. Both appear transformed with the most characteristic elements of each of the performers. He with the actor’s typical suits, mustache, earrings and ponytail and she with the updos and clothing with which he appeared at the trial.

Some of the moments in the trailer show what happened during the lawsuit : Depp scribbling while Heard testifies, the scrutiny of the actress on social networks and also a reference to James Franco , who was included in the interpreter’s witness list but was never called to testify.

“It’s the first day of Depp’s libel trial against Heard and, although fans are showing their support for both sides, there is a clear favorite ,” says a reporter at the beginning of the preview, referring to the support Depp received during the trial.

Melissa Marty is also part of the cast of Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial as Camille Vasquez , Depp’s lawyer. Mary Carrig , for her part, is Heard’s attorney: Elaine Bredehoft .

After six weeks in court, the popular jury ruled that there was defamation by Heard for an opinion piece she wrote in 2018 in the Washington Post in which she spoke about the consequences of being a survivor of domestic abuse. On the other hand, the jury also established that there was defamation on the part of Depp for some comments made by his former lawyer Adam Waldman about the actress. She will have to pay 15 million dollars and he will have to pay 2 million dollars . The actress’s legal team appealed the verdict in July after a motion to mistrial was denied.

Heard and Depp met in 2009 while filming The Rum Diaries . They married in 2015 and in 2016 she filed for divorce and a restraining order against the actor alleging physical and verbal abuse. The interpreter sued The Sun for defamation after calling him a “wife beater”. The trial, held in the United Kingdom in 2020, ruled that it is “substantially correct” to refer to the interpreter as such.
