Let’s begin with our top story. In a recent interview, director H Vinoth, who is currently working on the post-production of Thunivu, his third collaboration with superstar Ajith, spoke about working with the star. The director has so far worked with the star in three films–Nekronda Paarvai, Valimai, and Thunivu, over five years. When asked about the relationship between them, Vinoth said that any professional relationship comes with its own set of misunderstandings. But, there was also “trust” they had for each other, which explained their “long journey together”. Thunivu has been one of the most trending topics on social media ever since the film was announced.
“Actor Hansika Motwani and businessman Sohael Kathuriya recently got married in a lavish intimate wedding in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
The couple were seen having a blast at their sangeet and haldi ceremonies, before marrying at Jaipur’s Mundota Fort and Palace. The function was attended by their family members and close friends. Pictures from the ceremony have made their way to social media. On the work front, Hansika was last seen in Maha and has films like Partner, Rowdy Baby, My Name Is Shruti and Guardian in the pipeline.”
“Moving on, the title of actor Sai Dharam Tej’s 15th Telugu film has been announced as Virupaksha. The film’s teaser was released on Wednesday, 7th December and, surprisingly actor Jr NTR was roped in to lend his voice as the narrator.
The teaser talked about fear and superstition and has spine-chilling visuals woven into the story. Sai Dharam Tej took to Twitter to reveal the title and thanked Jr NTR for his support. Fresh off the success of RRR, Jr NTR too, will soon commence the shoot of NTR30, helmed by “”Janatha Garage”” director Koratala Siva. He also has NTR31 directed by KGF director Prashanth Neel in the pipeline.”
Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi on Wednesday, 7th December announced the release date of his upcoming movie Waltair Veerayya. The film will hit screens on January 13, coinciding with the Sankranti holiday. Waltair Veerayya will arrive in cinemas just a day after the release of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy. The Balakrishna starrer will open in cinemas on January 12. The one-day gap between the releases will allow both films to have a good opening, instead of dividing the movie-going audience. Interestingly, both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy are bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers. This is the first time in the history of Telugu cinema that two big star vehicles produced by the same production house, are being released together.
Tamil superstar Vikram seems to be having a ball shooting for director Pa Ranjith’s upcoming movie Thangalaan. The star recently shared a video of him and members of the cast and crew of the film, taking a dip in the waters of Hogenakkal falls. Thangalaan is a period film and is reportedly set against the backdrop of the Kolar gold mines. The promo of the film, released earlier, showed Vikram in a unique get-up shepherding a herd of donkeys. Alongside Vikram, the film also stars Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Pasupathi. Thangalaan is also Vikram’s first collaboration with Ranjith.
“Prime Video recently announced the premiere date of the recent Tamil-Telugu action film Yashoda. Starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead, the film will be available for streaming on the platform on December 9. The film revolves around a woman’s struggle to find her missing sister and the film is set against the backdrop of a large-scale surrogacy programme. Last month, Yashoda opened to mixed reviews in cinemas. But, despite that, the film was said to have performed well at the box office. It was declared the biggest solo hit in Samantha’s career.
Yashoda will also be available to stream in Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.”
Filmmaker C.S. Amudhan, known for his spoof movie series Tamizh Padam, is back with his next film, Raththam. The teaser of Raththam shows that he has dealt with a more sober and urgent topic in the film, unlike his previous films that were satire of the formula-driven Tamil blockbusters. Amudhan has roped in directors Venkat Prabhu, Vetrimaaran, and Pa Ranjith as narrators who shed a light on the plot and conflict of Raththam. Starring Vijay Antony in the lead, the film is a commentary on the volatile and dynamic nature of the country’s socio-political situation. Raththam also stars Mahima Nambiar, Nandita Swetha, and Ramya Nambeesan. The filmmakers have not announced the release date yet.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal took off to Morocco for the next schedule of his upcoming film Ram. The film’s director Jeethu Joseph took to his Instagram page to share pictures of himself and Mohanlal boarding the flight to their next destination. Due to the pandemic that broke out in 2020, the makers halted production, as the film was required to be shot in multiple locations around the world. Earlier this year, production resumed. Ram is touted to be an espionage thriller with Mohanlal, playing the role of a globe-trotting agent. The film also has Trisha in the lead, and this will be her second outing in Malayalam after Jude in 2018.
Lastly, we end on a tragic note, Tamil actor Siva Narayana Murthy passed away due to ill health at 68. The late actor was often seen with Vadivelu and late actor Vivek in comic roles.
