This article discusses the Netflix series Black Butterflies, including the release date, time, plot synopsis, cast, and trailer, and how to watch online.
Netflix is still managing to come up with a range of programming that is designed to try and grab a large piece of the streaming audience. With crime drama and documentaries becoming incredibly popular, it seems a no-brainer to get this series up on the platform. Crime seems to pay for TV shows, and although we are not privy to the actual ratings, it seems they always do well, so this show might ride the crime wave and surprise viewers.
The official plot synopsis is as follows:
“Low on the inspiration for his second book, a gloomy novelist agrees to write a memoir for a dying man — and swiftly becomes part of his bloodstained past.”
Our opinion of the premise
I have a soft spot for down-on-their-luck writers, so anything that has a look at that particular problem gets my attention right away. The idea of a writer taking on a job just to get by and finding himself getting more and more embroiled in the drama is a great idea. Our disgruntled writer finds that the job he has taken on, writing the memoirs of a dying man, is not as straightforward as it first appears. My limited knowledge of French crime drama does not put me off watching this series. The premise is great, and French cinema is great, so I am on board for this show.
The series will be released globally on Netflix on Friday, October 14th at 12 am PT. The series will have 6 episodes and will all be released at once.
Audiences will be able to watch the series with a subscription to Netflix. The basic plan for Netflix is $9.99. If you want HD, you’ll need to get the standard package at $15.49. Finally, for Ultra HD, the premium package costs $19.99. Additionally, here is everything we know about the plan for Netflix adverts.

Here is the team behind it all:
At this moment in time, there is no official trailer for Black Butterflies. However, you can view a preview on the Netflix dashboard.
The preview gives a feel for this French noir thriller, showing our protagonist being employed to document the shadowy past of a mysterious figure and his affairs. As Albert Desiderio recounts the story of his love affair with Solange in the 1970s, a dark and twisted nightmare begins to unfold, threatening to envelop our hapless novelist Adrien.
With not much information to go on, the trailer is perhaps the best bet to get a feel for this series. From what I can gather though, this is a dark and violent story. In Aztec and Mayan cultures, the sighting of a black butterfly often meant that a storm was on the way, it seems that may be true for the characters within this series.
