Best Movies Coming to AMC+ in October 2022 – MovieWeb

AMC+ is trying to make its mark in the world of online streaming services. Here are the best movies coming to the platform in October.
AMC+ first launched its streaming service in June 2020, and may not be as popular as competitive powerhouses like Prime Video, Hulu, and Netflix, but has been steadily producing some great original content in the past couple of years. The exclusive AMC+ movies are somewhat sparse, but are often high quality and popular. AMC+ is trying its best to stay competitive with the market and gain popularity this way, and the service could very well gain more subscribers in October as its movie lineup is to die for. The major benefit here is that AMC+ contains films from services like Shudder and IFC, meaning that the streaming platform has a wide variety of films to choose from. Here are the best movies coming to AMC+ in October.
No Man’s Land is the classic tale of a man on the run who seeks forgiveness and redemption for the wrongs he committed. This 2021 action-western takes a different point of view on illegal border crossings as it has a Mexican fleeing to America as well as an American seeking refuge illegally in Mexico. In addition, it stars well-known actors such as Jake Allyn, Frank Grillo, and Andie MacDowell.
V/H/S/99 is the newest installment of the V/H/S found footage film series which includes the original V/H/S (2012), V/H/S/2 (2013), V/H/S Viral (2014), V/H/S/94 (2021), and now V/H/S/99. Each film features a series of short vignettes depicting disturbing and creepy anthology stories. Like the title implies, this newest one is taking viewers back to the past, to a hellish version of 1999 to be exact. Before the turn of the century, strange, horrific events took place and those are about to be unleashed in V/H/S/99.
Get ready for the brilliant return of Italian horror mastermind Dario Argento with his newest horror/thriller, Dark Glasses. This masterpiece tells the tale of former prostitute Diana (Ilenia Pastorelli), who now wears dark glasses after she was brutally attacked by a serial killer and lost her vision as a result. Now, it’s up to Diana and her young new friend Chin to catch the serial killer at all costs before he stops them dead in their tracks, literally.

She Will tells the story of Veronica Ghent (Alice Krige), an aging film star who looks to rest and recover in Scotland after a double mastectomy. Unknown to Veronica, her quaint healing retreat was once the burning site for many witches long ago, and to this day, the land is still rich with their ashes and their souls which are hellbent on revenge. This 2021 psychological horror is visually stunning and has almost a magical feel to it. However, the beauty and dreamlike quality only add to the dark story that’s quickly unfolding.
Resurrection is a 2022 psychological thriller about Margaret (Rebecca Hall), a successful businesswoman who is on the run from her abusive former ex-lover David (Tim Roth). When David unexpectedly shows up in her life again, Margaret’s world is shattered, and she finds herself in danger once again. However, this time, she is prepared and willing to do anything to protect herself and her daughter from David’s clutches. Resurrection is a powerful film that’s both disturbing, and impossible to look away from, especially the horrifying conclusion that shows viewers that it’s not afraid to go in a bold, graphic, yet original direction.
“You won’t wake up in the dark ever again to that awful screaming of the lambs.” The 1991 classic, The Silence of the Lambs comes to AMC+ this October and is the perfect film to watch on Halloween night. This horror/thriller features strong performances by its two leads, Jodie Foster and Sir Anthony Hopkins, and a twisted relationship (at least in Hannibal’s eyes) between their two characters, Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter. While made over 30 years ago, this film has withstood the test of time and is still considered by many to be one of the best horror movies ever made.

Get ready to relive Jaws and experience the man-eating monster that made everyone afraid to go to the beach in the 1970s. Steven Spielberg’s classic movie about a crazed shark on the hunt for flesh arrives on AMC+ this October. To this day, there have been many spin-offs and other movies made about stalking sharks, but none have even come close to comparing to this 1975 classic. Join police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider), mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), and ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) as they take down one of man’s fiercest predators to ever roam the waters.
Meet Shawn Ruddy (Joseph Winter), a former internet sensation who will do anything to get his fame back, even spending one night at Death Manner, the most haunted house in the United States. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Unluckily for Shawn, the spirits that haunt the place don’t take too well to visitors and Shawn is about to find that out in the worst possible way. Deadstream is a horror/comedy found footage film that pokes fun at itself while still being incredibly creepy and unsettling.
Based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Polish American novelist Jerzy Kosiński, The Painted Bird tells the story of six-year-old Joska (Petr Kotlar), a wandering boy who travels from town to town seeking a home amidst the turmoil of World War II. He experiences locals engaged in all forms of strange and violent crimes including incest, bestiality, rape, and murder. The Painted Bird is a 2019 black and white drama with slow-moving camera shots that display the worst of humanity in a beautiful way; it's a dark, powerful film that will haunt you long after the credits roll.
